“That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet.” ~ as Shakespeare so perfectly observed. Here, scent is imagined rather than literal — an invitation for the viewer to engage through memory and feeling.
A figure poised mid-gesture, lifting a rose as if to savour its scent, suspended between performance and private reverie.
The figure’s skirt is embellished with the impression of full Irish linen, its texture deliberately preserved to honour the intimacy of handmade cloth. The bodice draws from the elegant restraint of a vintage leather opera glove, adorned with carefully placed motifs sourced from brocante — fragments of history reassembled to suggest memory, playfulness and adornment.
